A filmmaker’s perspective
On set · The Audition · With actors Adrian Tamburini and Michaela Bedel From the page to the performance.
From the performance to the screen.
My work spans stage and screen, from performing to creating my own work, writing and directing television, and working with aspiring actors and filmmakers. Across it all, I keep returning to one simple question: what’s the story?
If film is an empathy machine, each of us has a part in making it work. Whatever role we take, we work together to explore and understand the human condition. Story is our starting point. What is the writer’s intention? What purpose does the character serve within the story? How can our creative choices serve the script? These questions connect acting, writing and filmmaking, and form the foundation of my teaching.
Working with actors and filmmakers of varied abilities has taught me the value of an inclusive, supportive space where people feel comfortable to play, question and experiment. Whatever your experience or confidence, there is room to use your imagination, make discoveries and explore the stories you want to share.
I find immense pleasure in seeing emerging storytellers find their voice. My aim is to help people express themselves with confidence, develop their own creative perspective and make their unique authorial voice heard.
